Taryn is dedicated to making things better for individuals and families affected by mental illness. As a family member she knows first-hand the challenges that families face in supporting their loved ones living with mental illness. As an academically trained mental health researcher she believes that evidence-based care is the best care. Prior to co-founding Two Wheels Training, Taryn spent over 10 years conducting research in university and hospital settings at the University of Toronto, the Graduate Center at the City University of New York and the Centre for Addiction & Mental Health. For five years Taryn spearheaded a research and evaluation program and co-developed a national initiative in mental health innovation at the Schizophrenia Society of Ontario. Taryn holds a PhD in Applied Psychology from the University of Toronto and is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Psychiatry. She has taught, given numerous presentations, and published on research methodology and diverse topics in mental health.
